A tropical low pressure system moved across the Northern Territory and Queensland border on the 16th and became slow moving over the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. The low remained slow moving for a few days, before moving in a south east direction over north west parts of inland Queensland on the 19th. During this time, the low produced heavy rainfall across most of the Gulf Country and northern parts of the state. The low pressure system did not reach Tropical Cyclone intensity. The low weakened as it continued to move inland during the 20th and 21st.
