The La Niña theme of plentiful rain continued with record high March rainfall and the 7th wettest start to the year. The 2010 January to March rainfall was also very high and the 4th higheast on record, with the wettest being 1974. Several episodes heavy rain led to flooding along the tropical east coast during the month, especially near month's end. Many daily falls exceeded 200 mm along the north east tropical coast between the 7th and 10th and from the 27th and included Bambaroo in the Herbert district with 304.8 mm on the 7th. Proserpine Airport recorded 627.8 mm between the 29th and 31st and was a record 3 day total for the site. Landslides were reported near Bowen and Kuranda.
