Moderate to heavy rainfall affected the North Tropical Coast and Central Coast catchments from the 19th onwards. This resulted in major flood levels in the lower reaches of the Haughton and Herbert catchments, including the Giru and Halfiax. Major flood levels were recorded along the Mulgrave River around the same time and again a week later as further heavy rainfall affected the North Tropical Coast. Moderate flood levels were recorded in the Don catchment, with minor flood levels affecting the Barron River.
