Moderate to heavy rainfall in the second and third week of December produced flooding throughout the southern and western region of the state. Major flood events were recorded along the Balonne, Maranoa and Macintyre Rivers, affecting the towns of Roma, Surat, St George, Dirranbandi, Hebel, Mitchell and Goondiwindi. Elsewhere minor to moderate flooding was recorded. Warnings for rivers affected during this period began on the 7th of December and continued into 2012.
