Heavy rainfall associated with the monsoon about the western Gulf area resulted in Flood Warnings to commence for the Gulf Rivers on 1st March. Moderate to major flooding resulted in the Gregory and Nicholson Rivers, with a record flood at Burketown of 6.78 metres on 16th March. Major flooding also occurred in the lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend, with minor to moderate flooding occurring throughout March along the Norman River.
