Heavy rainfall between 100−300 mm during mid-March along the central coast between Townsville and St Lawrence resulted in flood warnings to commence on 14th March for major flooding in the upper Pioneer River catchment and moderate flooding across the Connors and Isaac River catchments within the Fitzroy basin. Further persistent heavy rainfall associated with a monsoon trough saw flood warnings also commence between 20th to 28th March for moderate flooding across the Comet, Dawson, and Mackenzie Rivers within the Fitzroy River basin, major flooding on the Belyando River in the upper Burdekin River basin, and numerous warnings also for minor flooding along the Don River. Moderate flooding in the Connors and Isaac Rivers, and minor flooding in both the Don and Pioneer Rivers were still occurring at the end of March. Further monsoon activity and rainfall totals between 200−300 mm about the Tropical North and Central Queensland Coasts at the end of March resulted in a flood warning issued on 28th March for coastal area between Cairns to Mackay.
