Severe thunderstorms caused very extensive damage in many Brisbane suburbs and across the south east. In addition to the Brisbane suburbs affected by the event known as "The Gap Storm", reports of hail and damage also included: Golf ball sized hail accompanied by strong winds at Wonglepong around 2:30pm; Large trees uprooted and small hail at Yatala around 3:30pm; 3 to 4 cm hail at Mt Tamborine at around 4:08pm; Marble to golf ball sized hail and flooded paddocks about the Gold Coast Hinterland.
