On the 4th a severe thunderstorm was reported approximately 10 kilometres north of Emerald. Very strong winds were produced by the storm, destroying sheds on a property in the area. Large trees were blown over and heavy farm machinery was shifted. Gutters and awnings were ripped off a house. The thunderstorm was accompanied by golf ball sized hail, which, combined with the strong winds, damaged cars parked on the property and caused holes in the external walls of the house. A clear path was cut through vegetation approximately 500 metres wide and 10 kilometres long.
