On the 12th severe thunderstorms occurred in the south east quarter, particularly on the coastal plain. The most significant activity occurred on the Gold Coast, where golf ball sized hail was reported from Coolangatta. Many trees were blown down in the Gold Coast region. Hail 2cm in diameter was reported at Eagleby and a funnel cloud was reported at Southport. Hail was also reported at Illinbah and Tully Heads.
