A cyclonic wind, a deluge of rain and a waterspout were features of a remarkable storm which swept across Moreton Bay. The storm appeared to come from the direction of Deception Bay and the wind cut several laneways about 30 feet in width through the bay, uprooting trees and sheds.

Several houses which were in the track suffered considerable. Coincident with the storm a huge waterspout formed in the NW and traveled across Moreton Bay in a SE direction. Observers at Redcliffe, Sandgate and Bribie Island described it as being about 100 feet high and of considerable circumference and jet black in colour. It?s roar could be heard in Sandgate
